well well well. i finally saw it. that's right, before you. i was lucky enough to get myself into a 'pre-screening' of spidey last night @ 11. ooooooooooooh and it was sweet. i was mucho impressed. there's *spoilers* up ahead kiddies, so don't read this if you havn't seen it yet. you've been warned.
overall i thought it was a great movie. it furthered the characters-and built on the past two films, tying up loose ends...as well as introducing new stuff. all the things that x-3 failed to give me....which was a piece of garbage. the special effects were amazing as expected. sandman looks amazing. venom's suit was super. the film ups the ante from the two previous films, and in all the action sequences you are on the edge of your f-ing seat. which i would expect nothing else from raimi. if you don't know the story already, this is basically the summary: (peter wants to ask mj to marry him. sandman appears. eddie brock wants to be like parker, and becomes venom. harry osborne still wants to kill peter...and becomes the new green gobby.) a sweet third movie. i would say i loved about 90% of the flick. and being that i'm an anal comic book purist....i go into these flicks with a critical eye...and this being the mother of all comic flicks i had to be the most critical. but the reason why the spiderman flicks are so good, and why raimi is such a good director - is that the flaws are minimal, and it appeals to not only the spider-man new comer, and the non comic reading audience...but to the hardcore fans as well. so here are my gripes..... 1. when eddie brock puts on the black suit that is the alien symbiote....the suit is all crazy. it is alive. it moves, oozes, and whatnot. but when peter dons the suit....it just turns into a suit. how come its all alive and moves for venom (which is how it should)...and it just a shitty suit for spidey? don't get me wrong, they played it all right-- peter becomes on arrogant asshole when he puts on the infamous black suit, that part was done well....but i woulda enjoyed alittle bit more special fx there. 2. the sandman is not uncle ben's killer 3. the whole side story of the sandman wanted to get to his little sad sick daughter is b.s.-who cares if the audience relates to him....he's a baddy. he's bad. 4. harry osborne realizes his wrongs towards the end of the flick, and teams up with spider-man. i still don't know how i feel towards this. there is no way this would happen in the comics. i was mad at first, yet it sort of made sense for these movies. 5. i was mad with the harry osborne costume, whereas i was pissed with the og gobby in the first flick. they tried to make him into like a hip, surfer green goblin riding a hoverboard? come on. he didn't even have any green in his costume. that's just shitty. i don't know if i'm the only dork that gets pissed over athestetics like super hero costumes, but i just wanna see it done right. that's all. there was alot of stuff that they did do really well for this third film. thomas haden church was the perfect sandman. seeing him in that green striped shirt gave this little nerd chills. great casting. i'll even admit topher grace did eddie brock justice....although he is far from the classic eddie brock. and bryce dallas howard rocked it as gwen stacey. that whole character was done well also. the whole point of gwen stacey is to rock the boat that is peter and mary jane. and they did it just like the comics. a badass movie. if this is the last spider-man, i can somewhat be satisfied...it was a great flick, and it is a great trilogy. but if they keep doing them, and do them well....i'll keep seeing them. spider-man is near and dear to my heart as a comic loving fanboy, and probably my favorite superhero in the entire comic book world. man. i wanna sees it again.
great start for what looks like an awesome movie going summer.
stay tuned kiddies...
later internet.
