LOST season 3 episode 1: "A Tale of Two Cities"

whew. long day. got back from campus. ate. had a cup of coffee. and started studying for cs101 exam#1 tomorrow. not exactly what i wanted to do after being on campus from 1-9. but there's a payoff. now it's time for a little studybreak. it's time to watch the season 3 premiere of LOST on abc. and i'm as giddy as a little school boy. beware those that are faint of heart....it's about to get reeeeeeeally GEEKY. here's my play-by-play review of the LOST season premiere, w. ***spoilers****

"A Tale of Two Cities"

So many questions left from last season. it's been such a long wait.

the show starts off in flashback. an unknown face. who is this chick? "juliet." she burns her hands baking cookies. then we see her talking with her book club at her house. ruh roh. an earthquake. omigod. "HENRY GALE" ...or the "artist formally known as henry gale" as sawyer calls him....walks out of julie's house during the earthquake. this is our first glimpse of his former life before the island. everyone walks outside to see what happend. they look up....OMIGOD...ITS THE PLANE CRASHING. and then we see another freeeeaking other. 'henry gale' yells for goodwin. and ethan. henry commands orders at them both. he tells them to pretend their part of the plane. he says he wants 'lists' in three days. they run off. henry turns to julie and says "so i guess i'm out of the book club." omigod as if all this minute hasnt shown enough shocks...the camera scales back, scales back, scales back....this little suburban neighborhood that they are apparently in is not in a town or anything like that....it's smack dab in the in middle of the island!!!!! what in the hell?!?!?!?!

title screen. show hasnt even started, and i almost peed my pants. commercials.

another flashback. it's jack. scruffy looking. he's apparently spying on someone. is it his 'lost sister' his father went looking for. nope. we're fooled. he wakes up from a dream and he's on the island. and he's chained up. and he's locked in a hatch?! where are sawyer and kate??? he tries kicking down a door. yelling for help. we see kate. waking up in a bathroom. she wants to know where sawyer and jack are. apparently the others have seperated them all. we see sawyer. he wakes up on the ground, behind bars in a cage. he's in some sort of compound. her sees another man in a cage next to him. who is it? he talks to him, trying to find out who he is and where he is. the dude won't talk. back to jack. he looks up at a security camera. he's being watched. a chick comes in to see jack. WELL WELL WELL...it's juliet....from the opening flashback. commercials.

show's back. flashback. we see jack with his wife in some office. apparently he is meeting his wife for a divorce meeting or something. jack is such a nice guy. he finds out his wife was cheating on him. she walks out on him. back to the island. jacks still chained up, talking to 'juliet.' he screams, demanding to know where kate and sawyer are. she patiently tries to calm him down. back to kate. she takes a shower. cant find clothes. sees a locker with a note on it that says "wear this." its a white dress. one of the others comes up to her and says "come on kate, he's waiting." the others are escorting here somewhere. the go to the beach. to a little hut with a table. OH LOOK. it's "henry gale." he's waiting there for her with a very nice breakfast set up....like theyre at some fancy restaraunt. he makes her put on handcuffs. she wants to know what happened to sawyer and jack. henry is coy. he won't tell her. he tells her 'the next two weeks are going to be very unpleasant. commercial. IS HENRY THE HEAD HANCHO? IS HE IN CHARGE OF THE OTHERS???

back from commercial. halfway mark. its a flashback, or jack at the hospital when he was still a doctor. his dad comes in. theyre still working, so this is before the whole fiasco. jack is trying to find out who his wife was cheating on him with. he's trying to get a hold of his wife. his wife calls his father's cell. they get into a fight. his father calls jack obessive. jack calls his father a drunk. his father tells him to let it go and walks out. back to the island. jack's still locked up. desperate to get loose. he tries talking in an intercom. he screams into it... "what? if your trying to talk to me...i can't hear you!" and then all you hear is static. but thanks to the magic of dvr...i watched that part a couple of times. you can faintly hear jacks dad's voice say from the intercom... "let it go jack. let it go." WHAT IN THE HELL??? juliet comes back into the room. with food for jack. he denies it. yells at juliet, telling her whoever is trying to talking to him through the intercom to give it up. she tells him the intercom doesnt work. juliet asks him what his profession is. he tells her he's a "repo man." HAhaha. she asks him where he was flying from when the plane crashed. he gives he a dirty look, and tells her. he tells her that he was bringing his father home. she tells him he can trust her, and that she wont hurt him. YEAH RIGHT. she walks out. back to sawyer, still locked in the damn cage. the dude across from him starts to talk to him. he asks him how long it would take to get back to his camp. the kid across form his escapes. a loud alarm goes off. he frees sawyer. the run off in opposite directions. yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah buddy. he runs into juliet. she shoots him in the freaking neck with a taser. right back into the cage he goes. the kid is caught too. commercial.

back to jack. he's sitting and talking to juliet. who the hell is this girl??? is she the head of the others??? does henry report to her??? jack apparently finds out that she is a doctor too. he still won't accept food or water. flashback. jack's in the hospital helping a patient. he sees his dad talking on the cell with his wife. laughing. happy. jack has a look in his eyes like he's going to murder his father. we then see his father go into a hotel, jack is following him. wait a minute...hold up....IS HIS FATHER THE ONE HIS WIFE IS CHEATING ON JACK WITH???????? how much of a total freaking bastard would he be to do that to his OWN SON? jack follows his father down the hall.... sees his father, demands for his cell phone. it isnt a hotel. his father's in an AA meeting. i was wrong. i'm stupid. jack goes off yelling at his father in front of the whole meeting. the people tell jack that his father's been sober for a while now. jack demands that the reason he's been sober is because he's been with his wife. so maybe i'm NOT stupid. they get into it. jack storms out. but not before beating the crap out of his dad. back to the island. jack is still locked up. the door opens, juliet comes in to bring him food, he rushes her...and overpowers her. the plate that the food was on breaks, he picks up a shard of glass....takes her hostage, and demands to know which way is out. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH JACK. the go down a corridor. he demands her to open the door. she says "she can't...we'll die." ruh roh. here comes henry gale. jack demands that she opens the door, or he'll kill her. henry's like " go ahead. you'll die. we all will." long pause. jack goes to open the door. juliet runs for henry. he runs out. what's behind the door you ask??? tons and tons of flowing water....plowing jack and juliet over. the room is filling up. they're downing. they get back into a room....manage to shut the door. she yells at him to push some random button on the wall. he does. and then randomly, punches jack and knocks him out. AHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHA. COMMERICALs.

commercials are done. here we go, home stretch. last part of the show....where if i know anything....i bet there is going to be a biiiiig shocker. back to sawyer, trying to escape AGAIN. here comes kate! they bring here past sawyer, and into one of the cages next to him. she's crying. kate's happy to see sawyer...but she aint saying much. something bad happend to her. but what? **on a sidenote: kate is totally gonna pick sawyer over jack this season. theyre gonna hook up. i know, i'm psychic.** back to jack. he wakes up. head hurting. disoriented. looks over, and there's juliet. "this is an aquarium." he says. "this things for for what? sharks?" jack says. "dolphins too." replies juliet. WTF?? "we're underwater aren't we?" "yes." "the stations....the darmha initative..." "they called it THE HYDRA." oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh snap. so apparently theyre in another one of the hatches.
"so you people are just....whatever's left over then?"
"well that was a long time ago. it doesn't matter who we were, it only matters WHO WE ARE. we know exactly who you are, jack shepard."
"you don't know ANYTHING ABOUT ME."
"I know that you're a spinal surgeon. based out of st. sebastion's hospital. los angelas. i know that you went to columbia, and you graduated a year faster than anybody else. i know that you were married, and that you contested the divorce. i know your father died in sydney. i know this because i have a copy of his autopsy report."
jack is at a loss for words. WHO THE HELL IS THIS JULIET CHICK???
he asks her what she's holding. she has a thick folder. "this jack, is your life."
he asks her if it's just about him, or everything. juliet says "it's pretty much about everything."
he asks her if she knows about his ex wife. she says they know all about her. FLASHBACK. jacks in jail.... he gets bailed out. by his ex wife. hmmm surprising. she says his dad told her he was there. they part ways. sad music. she runs of crying, he runs after her. he sees the dude she's with. emotional. they're both crying. his father's the good guy. his ex wife tells him his father called her to help him. he was so drunk she could barely understand him. crying. crying. crying. shes says "look at the bright side...now you have something to fix." and walks off with 'the other man.' back to the island. juliet is still asking jack what he wants to know. he asks "is she happy??" yes jack. she's very happy. ....jack is the man. why the hell does all this shit happen to him??? juliet goes out of the room. she sees henry. henry tells her good work. she says "THANK YOU BEN." end title.

wow such a kick ass show. worth the wait? yes. so many questions answered, and yet predictably....so many more questions to be solved. with this first show just focusing on jack, kate, and sawyer....what the hell is going on with the rest of the survivors???? are michael and walt off the island???? what happend with siyeed sun and jin and the stupid big giant 4 toed foot??? with the first season full of mysteries, and the second season mostly about the hatch, this season is apparently going to fucus on the others, and what they're all aboot. ahhhahahahahahaha. CANNOT FREAKING WAAAAAAAAIT TILL NEXT WEEK. best show on tv. hands down. oh and didn't i tell you???? I'M A HUGE NERD. now that that's done....back to studying, and then off to bed. gotta get up early to study even more ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. later.
