monster house

hello. sat around for most of the day. then i took tag and michael to see 'monster house.' and let me say... i was pretty impressed. this might be one of the best animated flicks i've seen in a LONG time. i would say the movie not only caters to children, but adults as well. it was executive produced by speilberg, and zemeckis. i don't know how much input they had in the actual production.. but when watching the movie... two movies come to mind. speilberg's 'the goonies' and zemeckis' 'the frighteners.' so this is pretty much what i thought: the goonies + the frighteners = monster house. it's crazy to think how far animation has come. from those days when we first say the first sightings of black and white steamboat willie aka mickey mouse to pixar, dreamworks..... animation has come a LONG way. this movie takes the cake. definatly some of the best animation i've ever seen. i'm guessing they used alot of 'motion capture' in this... the faces and expressions were just so freaking LIFE LIKE. if you don't know what the flick is about, let me inform you. three kids are scared of a house. the house is alive. that pretty much sums it up. but the movie is so much more. the humor was fantastic, reminding me of the better parts of the goonies. the two main child characters, d.j. and chowder, and very very similar to the goonie's main characters... i mean come on..."chowder" is only one syllable more than "chunk." ...if only chowder would do the truffle shuffle. and zemeckis. the man knows how to take the best parts of horror, and put it on film. this movie was really good. i was impressed. and lots of famous people doing the voices as well.... steve buschemi, john heder, jason lee, maggie gyllenhal, and more. go see it. take your children. you will like it.

after the movie we went to eat at a local pizza buffet. yummy. now i guess it's time to unwind for the night.

and let's not forget people... WIZARDWORLD 2006 IS ONLY FOUR DAYS AWAY. YESSUM.

later.
