well, friday morning. got up, showered...and being the dedicated kevin smith fanboy that i am, drove to sandusky: to see the first showing of CLERKS2. since it was the first showing on the opening day i didn't expect anyone else to be in the theatre. i was the first one there. ha. then stroll in two other kids. then one by one three other dudes walk into the theatre. ok so... where to start. CLERKS2 does not dissapoint. the movie picks up ten years later, after the first flick. i'll tell you the plot if you havn't heard it already: the quickstop burns down, randal and dante now work at the Mooby's. and it may be ten years later...but my favorite two slackers are still up to the same loveable crap. sitting around arguing about pop culture,and the most trivial bullshit... whining about how they should do something with their lives. all hail the most wonderful writing of the great kevin smith. jay and silent bob now hang out outside of mooby's. randal still has an unhealthy obsession with porn. dante is yet again juggling two chicks at once. everything you loved about the original clerks is still here, ten years later. a couple of extra characters are thrown into the mix...becky (rosario dawson) the manager of mooby's, and elias (trevor fehrman) who totally stole the limelight in this movie if you ask me. trevor fehrman is halarious...if you havn't watched the movie "cheats" i suggest you do, he's great in it. but anyways, the character of elias really made me laugh. trevor fehrman plays this young kid who is a jesus freak....who is also obsessed with lord of the rings, and transformers. he becomes randal's arch-nemesis of sorts, when elias and randal get into heated discussions of which is better: star wars or lord of the rings....or how transformers is blasphemy against god. elias was so funny. especially his rants about "pillow trolls." don't ask. you'll have to watch. some of the crap dante and randal get themselves into this time are so funny: discussions about 'ass to mouth', a "donkey show". hilarious. kevin smith's writing is better than ever in clerks2. in the day of the 'sequel' ...this is definatly one of the best. is it because its not a huge hollywood flick? ya. is it because kevin smith is freaking wicked awesome? yes. i loooooved everything about it and i will most likely see it again. and kevin is so good....he even manages to add in a little "heart" in between all the dick and fart jokes. good job kevin, i can see why you got an 8 minute standing ovation at cannes. if the other two flicks i wanna see this weekend are half as good as clerks2, ...i'll be satisfied. maybe kevin will leak out what his next project will be at wizard world. this dork can only hope....
