well, just got back. and OH MAN. FRIGGIN FABULOUS. GRAND. EPIC. STUNNING. ...i could go on. where to start. man, did brian singer deliver! the man knows how to direct a super hero flick. i may have liked this more than x-men...but that's a whole nother rant. this movie brought everything good from the original first two films...and brought them up to date. the score is exactly the same. brandon routh is practically identical to christopher reeves. he gives us to stumbling clumsiness of clark and the presence of supes just as good as christopher did it back in the day. kate bosworth did a decent job as lois. spacey's luthor was wonderful....he gives him the sort of maniacal edge that lex luthor should have...even scary at times. the dude that played jimmy olsen was good too...his name escapes me. awesome awesome awesome. oh yeah, special effects? holy crap.... i can see why they shot the 'plane sequence' like a hundred times... it payed off. fx finally do superman justice.... bringing the action ten fold... i mean because come on...when u watch the original movies now the fx are super cheesy. it gave me just what i wanted... the original film told us.. "you will believe that a man can fly" ..but nowadays we see just as good of special effects in commercials as we do in movies.... so what we really needed... was for the STORY to be as good as the fx. and yes, it was. some of the problems i had with x3...yeah the fx are good...but where's the good story? kickass. RETURNS takes place after the events of superman II, when astronomors and scientists have found the place of the remains of planet krypton...and superman disappears for five years. he returns, the world is a wreck, and lois has a kid. oh yeah, and speaking of that...
***SPOILERS****
i didn't see this coming.... the kid is SUPERMAN'S@!! ....duh... how could i not have seen that coming... i mean lois and superman did 'do it' in supermanII. but that also leads into alot of geek logic and arguments: (think of the brodie speach from mallrats) how lois could never have superman's baby... but i won't get into that...
***END SPOILERS***
the movie kicked ass. as soon as it ended, i wanted MORE. some people might be complaining that it was a tad bit long (the movie was about 2 hours and 45 minutes) ...but i didn't mind at all. it all went by so fast...i wanted it to last longer. and hooray for all the actors signing on for sequels. NOW GET GOING. I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. i want sequels!!! so do you think the movie will actually make money? hell yes. the budget was a hefty 300 million so the flick has to atleast gross 600 million to actually make money. and i think it will. here's your summer blockbuster kiddies. giddy up. i wanna see it again.
