man, why the hell do i keep waking up so freaking early? did my bodyclock reset without telling me??

yesterday i watched a dvd called 'a history of violence.' it was really good. it is about a small time diner owner(vigo mortensen aka aragon from lotr), who amazingly stops two men from robbing his restaurant. he kills them both. the town celebrates and he becomes a hero....but was this just bravery, or did he know how to kill these robbers just right? he turns out to be a reformed mobster who was put into witness protection. but all he wants to do is defend his family from harm. good movie. go rent it--it came out yesterday. ADAPTED FROM A COMIC BOOK....yet another flick that goes to show that comics transfer to film perfectly.....

this week i also thought i'd give a couple of new shows a chance...this is what i think...

abc's 'sons and daughters'

absolute crap. oh man, where to start. in our day and age let's just say it....the sitcom is dead. and because of that, the major networks are just trying to pick up shows that seem 'new' and 'edgy' ....and this show is the absolute opposite. first of all, the show revolves around a disfunctional family. the dad that trys to hold it all together. the crazy uncle. the mischeivious niece and nephew. the over dramatic grandma. I'VE SEEN IT BEFORE WHEN IT WAS ORIGNAL AND FUNNY, AND IT WAS CALLED 'ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.' except this show lacks everything that made arrested halarious. it trys to emphasize that the show is 'partially improvised' .... or so it states before the show starts. hmmmm...where have i seen this before..... MAYBE A LITTLE SHOW CALLED 'CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM??' ....and again cye does it soooo much better. stick with the script, because your improvision BLOWS. nice try abc...but i've seen it before, you suck.

and then there's the new show on cbs...'the new adventures of old christine'

ok so here's the thing. i havn't been too impressed with cbs lately. their president is sueing howard stern for millions.... and howard is in the right. and most of their shows are crap...with the exception of the monday night shows ( king of queens, how i met your mother, two and a half men) ....shows that are the exception to the dying sitcom. so hey, i give you props for that cbs. but we all have seen these past seinfeld stars have these new shows, and then they go bye bye. because hey, theyre mostly not good...and we just cant get past the fact that we have typecasteded all the actors from seinfeld...cuz we have grown to love those characters. well this show could actually turn out alright. it was OKAY. i'm not saying it was awesome, ....but it was watchable. julia lewis drieffus's (horribly mispelled) character is not alot different from 'elaine' ....but that's okay. she plays a divorced mother who is trying to raise her son. let's just see how long this one lasts.....but most people will just watch it cuz they'll be like 'hey i liked her from seinfeld'....
